The Energy of Life by Margaret McElroy is the second edition that was originally published in the year 2000. The second edition of The Energy of Life has been updated and has had some new chapters added. Margaret has had a great many opportunities to learn more about the topic of energy. As Margaret is fond of saying “Life is a school and it’s always in session”.

The Energy of Life begins with an explanation of the many types of energy. We all know about energy that is in electricity, fuel for cars, and in many other forms. Few people now about the other types of energy that are also in their daily lives. The other types of energies are of the mind, body, and soul.

Personal Energy the 2nd chapter is about your own personal power. We are all born with it and can use it; many have forgotten what it is and how to use it. Many in this world do not understand their personal energy or how to use it. Often it is not realized that personal power is connected to the spiritual world. The energy is available to everyone and it comes directly from the Universe.

There are many people of the earth plane who take our energy from us. They are referred to by Margaret as “Energy Vampires” in the 3rd chapter. Energy Vampires cannot produce their own energy and must find others to supply them with energy. Have you ever been around people that constantly complain and make you feel miserable?

Margaret talks about negative energy and its amazing powers in chapter four. Our thoughts are energy and negative thoughts use up a great part of our daily energy supply. By becoming aware of negative energy in our lives much of our energy can be saved and used for more positive things such as manifesting and being happier. Negative energy is also in many other forms that we are involved with such as people, places, and things.

An often overlooked type of energy is sexual energy. In the 5th chapter Margaret says “We were created as sexual beings and were meant to use it on a regular basis”. It is a wonderful energy and many are not aware of how important the sexual energy is. When used correctly, sexual energy can bring back youth and vigor that will increase the life span of us all.

Chapter six, Other Energies, explains the energies of inanimate objects such as your house, car, or place of work. If these objects do not have the right type of energy they can cause difficulties in your life. Margaret recalls her experiences with neighbors, clearing negative energies within houses. Negative energy can actually seep into inanimate objects causing those around to be effected by this energy in many ways.

The Energy of Sound chapter seven, Margaret explains how sound can be disruptive or used to assist us in relaxing and healing. Different sounds and types of music effect people in different ways. For some the sounds of a waterfall, running water, or a fountain can be relaxing. Sound is energy that is created either within us by spirit or outside of us in a different form.

In chapter 8, Past Life Energy, Margaret talks about how we spend 80% of our lives in past life energy. Past life energy is old energy that we are living with today. In each incarnation we bring with us all unfinished business plus our life plan for this life. Together these two energies combine into a powder keg of energy ready to go off, and we are unaware of it. Margaret explains quite a lot about past life energy in this chapter.All thought is energy begins the ninth chapter about Positive Energy. Thoughts are just one form of positive energy, Crystals, Affirmations, Aura Soma, Feng Shui, Aromatherapy, Flower Essences, and many other types of positive energies are revealed in this chapter.Chapter 10, Energy Channel and Chapter 11 New Energy – New Learning complete The Energies of life. In both chapters Margaret continues her explanation about these energies tells her about her own experiences with these energies and adds some new twists from her latest experiences in her life.

Topics include Reincarnation and Past Life, Death and Beyond, Spirit Guides and Helpers, Auras, Dreams, Spiritual Healing, Crystals, Pyramids, Channeling, Astrology and Margaret's own observations.

Reincarnation and Past Life is the belief that our soul has returned to the earth many times, and that our current life is affected by these past lives. Margaret reveals many of her past lives and shares some the interesting stories of people that she has encountered through her work as a past life therapist.

Margaret says she has been asked many times "what it is like to die". The chapter about Death and Beyond Spirit Guide and Helpers explains this phenomenon what happens after we cross over to the other side and the spirit guides that come to assist us in going towards the light. I especially enjoyed this chapter.Auras in Margaret's words are "electromagnetic energy that comes out of the body in waves". Margaret being clairvoyant is able to see these waves and can gives people what she calls readings about their auras. Margaret explains about the different colors of auras and their interpretation.

Spiritual Healing receives its name because the healing comes from spirit. Spiritual healing can come from within the body or from outside the body. Margaret uses spiritual healing that comes from outside the body. She uses her guides and allows them to lead her to where the healing is needed. This chapter contains many details about spiritual healing, interesting stories and experiences from Margaret McElroy's life.

In the chapter about Crystals, Margaret goes into great detail explaining the different types of healing crystals and their uses. I learned a lot about crystals and Margaret is obviously very informed about this subject. Often people condemn or ridicule the use of crystals before experiencing their healing powers.

Margaret used to not believe in pyramids until one day she put a glass of ordinary tap water under a pyramid for one hour and then tasted the water. The water tasted sweeter, more pure and softer. Margaret has since then learned a lot about pyramids and shares the many uses for pyramids. A lot of very interesting reading about pyramids is contained in this chapter.

Margaret McElroy is the deep trance channel for the Ascended Master Maitreya. In this chapter Margaret explains what a channel is how the spirit world enters her body and actually communicates through her. I am very fascinated about channeling, this is a favorite subject that I enjoy reading about. Guide to the Psychic helped me understand and learn quite a lot.

Margaret McElroy enjoys Astrology and prefers what she calls "Spiritual Astrology". Many resources are given to help anyone interested in learning about Astrology. Birth charts are explained in some detail. Margaret recommends finding a good Astrologer and having an Astrology chart done.

Margaret has lived abroad in many countries during her life. Her first new country was Germany, where her first husband was stationed. During the time in Germany Margaret began to experience her intuitive abilities that she would try deny for many years. As the word spread about Margaret many people came to her for readings. Eventually Margaret would acknowledge her Psychic abilities.

In 1974 Margaret immigrated to Australia with 300 pounds, 5 suitcases of clothes, and a few toys for her two children. Life in Australia was difficult in the beginning. Margaret began working at a radio station as fill-in for a talk show host. As Margaret became more popular her marriage became increasingly difficult. Eventually Margaret’s first marriage would end in divorce.

During the recession of the 70’s in Australia Margaret had what she calls a Psychic awakening. Margaret began to have psychic feelings about a lot of things happening in her life and strong intuition about people around her. Also during this time Margaret’s clairvoyant abilities emerged.

After the loss of Margaret’s mother, Margaret began to study with two mediumistic teachers. At first Margaret was afraid of seeing something horrible in the spiritual world. As Margaret faced these fears a whole new world opened up for her. After taking the mediumistic class Margaret began doing clairvoyant readings. It would take some time to make money from this.

During this time Margaret met her second husband who would talk about the Ascended Masters. This began the path for Margaret to begin channeling. Today Margaret channels two spirits one named Sister and the Ascended Master know as Maitreya.

I enjoyed Born to Be a Channel quite a lot; I could not put the book down. I finished the book in a weekend. I learned quite a bit about Margaret McElroy and the spiritual world because of this book. I would recommend buying “Born to Be a Channel” in the Ebook version. A soft cover version is also available.

Stories Along the Way by Margaret McElroy is a book filled with Margaret’s many experiences with the world of spirit. Margaret’s many stories will defy shock and surprise most people. Some of the stories have even shocked Margaret herself. I personally found the book very enlightening about the world of spirit and I would highly recommend it.

Stories Along the Way is composed of short stories that are quite fascinating and easy to read. The stories are about people, animals, property such as houses and other interesting subjects. I particularly liked Psychic surgery. A story of a woman diagnosed with a brain tumor that came to Margaret for spiritual healing.

Many people today have loved ones who suffer from Alzheimer’s. In the story “My Mother’s Not Dead” Margaret was asked by a friend to do a reading for a friend of hers. During the reading Margaret could sense a soul next to the lady who claimed to be the ladies mother. You’ll want to find out what happens next. I now have a better understanding of Alzheimer’s after reading this story.

Haunted houses are quite a popular topic with the super natural. The owner of a house that had a terrible cold spot in New Zealand asked for Margaret’s help. Margaret could the presence of a lady in the kitchen who was not aware that she was still on the earth plane. As Margaret walked through the house a spirit of a man was by the stairs who was actually quite upset that people were in his house. You’ll want to get the book to find out how Margaret McElroy returned the home to normal.

Some parts of the book are eerie; “The Alcoholic” in particular spooked me. This is a story about man who came to see Margaret for a reading. During the reading Margaret and the man could see a dark shadowy figure outside their door. The man goes on to tell Margaret how he used to live above an undertakers shop.

Often during her readings Margaret could feel the presence of another. During a reading Margaret relates very personal things that only a person very close to them would know. Often times giving so much personal information that client could not deny the accuracy of the reading. One particular non believer became a believer as Margaret told her things that totally astonished her.

Margaret McElroy has worked in many different fields including newspaper and magazine columnist, radio show host, astrologer, psychic, clairvoyant, deep trance channel, and author. Margaret’s path has not been an easy one. Many cannot see the world of spirit, it must be believed. Over the years Margaret says “My experiences are the only things that kept me going – the belief that we are not alone and that we do have spiritual beings looking after us”.
